Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire in Montreal's West Island is a small, quiet town. The West Island, to those who have never heard of it, is a large part that stretches from Lachine until the west. It is often cited as the birthplace of Amanda Brugel but while that may be true, her time there was not long. Brugel was raised in Courtice close to Oshawa. At the beginning of her life, she wanted to be professional performer, however an unexpected growth spurt made it impossible. According to an article in the Toronto Star, she revealed her height in heels as 6 feet 1 inch tall. When I grew out of male companions and gave up, I decided to give up. Brugel was one of many former dancers who shifted to acting. Her teacher from high school was the one who pushed her in the right direction. She was recommended by a teacher to get a role for school's annual play. The teacher who suggested that she pursue a part the school's annual production. This led to her being awarded a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship from York University. In 2000 she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts at York University. Since then, Brugel's been involved in more than 60 shows, large and small. Most notable was the time she was cast as Rita on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel is the sole Canadian of the season 1 actors of the series and only seen occasionally was the sole Canadian.
